Iran is NOT our Enemy!

Iran is NOT our Enemy!

Iran has a horribly oppressive government!    Iran has strongly supported: Hezbollah , The Houthis, Hamas, and the Palestinian People.   Iran has strongly opposed Saudi Arabia and similarly has opposed most of the major oil producers in the Middle East.

We use the words: “terrorist” and “terrorism” in a way, which is nowhere near “legalistic” terminology, as well as in representing our biases.   The Native People living in what became The United States, as well as The Mexican People living in much of our “West” had their countries “stolen” by the settlers and later on the government of The United States.    Every treaty granting rights to The Native People was broken by The United States Government.

Iran is referred to as a “Terrorist State”.   Similarly, HAMAS has been referred to as being a “Terrorist” force related to Gaza.

One need not “like” Iran’s Government, nor HAMAS to recognize how they are posited as:

BAD – in clear contrast to particularly The United States Government as well as The Israeli Government who are (falsely) portrayed as “righteous”.

The United States is a major “Terrorist State” related to other countries.   Currently, within The United Nations, we regularly veto resolutions that support International Law.   This has happened repeated related to Israel as well as Lebanon.

While the Administration of DT has been particularly egregious since January 20, 2025, (and even more so beginning February 28, 2026, when Iran was attacked by both Israeli and U.S. military forces), Joe Biden, and previous Administration have regularly vetoed Security Council Resolutions in The U.N., ignored General Assembly Resolutions, ignored World Court (and similar) legal actions, etc.

The (noted below) overthrowing of the Iranian Government in 1953 is part of a pattern of actions of The U.S. Government such as in Panama, Nicaragua, Cuba, as well as Iraq, and in much of the rest of The World that reflect U.S. Domination in military and economic modalities.   The supposed concern for the rights of The Ukrainian People are not matched by our similar concerns for people such as Palestinians, within Israel, The West Bank, and Gaza – whether they are Israeli or even American Citizens (or not).

On 19 August 1953, Prime Minister of Iran Mohammad Mosaddegh was overthrown in a coup d'état that strengthened the rule of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the Shah of Iran. It was instigated by the United Kingdom (MI6), under the name Operation Boot[5][6][7][8] and the United States (CIA), under the name TP-AJAX Project[9] or Operation Ajax. A key motive was to protect British oil interests in Iran after Mosaddegh nationalized the country's oil industry.[10][11][12]

Through the 1960s and 1970s, the embrace between the shah and Washington grew ever closer. With commercial ties expanding steadily, Iran’s great leap forward had direct beneficiaries in the United States. The floodgates opened—especially for military hardware—after the price of oil quadrupled in 1973. The shah launched a big-budget defense buildup, purchasing more than $16 billion in arms from the United States between 1972 and 1977, on top of approximately $3 billion per year in bilateral civilian trade.

https://www.brookings.edu/articles/1979-iran-and-america/#:~:text=The%20shah%20launched%20a%20big%2Dbudget,year%20in%20bilateral%20civilian%20trade.

In 1979 the government of Iran was overthrown by the leaders/regime who have remained in power, when not killed by Israeli or U.S. forces.   There is no reasonable argument I can see that supports:

1.  The oppressive (internal) leadership of Iran – most visibly to its women and girls, and:

2.  The obvious reality that Iran’s leadership has consistently opposed the “oil” interests of The Global North

Iran’s government is not allied with other governments in The Middle East.   I would note that:

1.) Israel is an obvious enemy.    Israel has on multiple occasions killed leaders related to, when not a part of the Iranian Government.   Until the recent attack by both Israel and The United States, Iran’s “attacks” upon Israel have been measured and in response to Israeli attacks (only).

2.) Saudi Arabia is generally an enemy.   Saudi Arabia’s Government is (also) oppressive, however its oil reserves, and strategic value related to its oil, ensures its value to The U.S. leadership, as well as much of the Global North’s Governments,

3.) The smaller countries with major oil reserves are tied with The. U.S., and Saudia Arabia, generally with Israel and against Iran,

4.) Iraq – was an enemy of The U.S. and Iran – now is mired in its own issues, and not noted much in such areas

5.) Egypt – has a dictatorship – and a complex relationship with both Israel and The U.S. – and is an “enemy” of Iran in a major way

6.) Jordan is a Palestinian Majority country – who’s dictatorial leadership has been an ally of The U.S. and close to an ally of Israel.   Since October 7, 2023, its been increasingly in conflict with Israel, most likely in helping minimize the likelihood of the Hashemite leadership being overthrown by others more supportive of the Palestinian People.

7.) Most everyone I know was strongly opposed to the Assad regime in Syria.   Syria currently is a country in danger of falling apart into multiple states.   Israel is the primary (outside) force pushing on Syria.   The Iranian ties to Syrian leadership are unclear (at least to me)

"Terrorism" and "Terrorists" is the words I hear frequently related to Hamas and Iran!

Related to Lebanon, I suggested interested readers look deeply at its history at a minimum going back to the early 1980's.   Steve Kerr, the long-time coach of the Golden State Warriors is well-known both in the U.S., and elsewhere where the National Basketball Association is followed.

Kerr was born on September 27, 1965, in Beirut, Lebanon to Malcolm H. Kerr, a Lebanese-born American academic, and Ann Kerr (née Zwicker), an American academic from California. ...  His paternal grandfather, Stanley Kerr, volunteered with the Near East Relief after the Armenian genocide ...] Kerr spent much of his childhood in Lebanon and other Middle Eastern countries such as Egypt, where he attended Cairo American College.[4]

On January 18, 1984, Malcolm Kerr was killed by members of the Islamic Jihad at age 52 while serving as president of the American University of Beirut.[7][8] ... Kerr was an 18-year-old college freshman at the time of his father's death.[7] Regarding his father's death, Kerr has said: "Before my father was killed, my life was impenetrable. Bad things happened to other people."[1]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Kerr

I would guess that few readers who know of Steve Kerr as a former basketball player and/or current coach know most, if not all what I've quoted above.

While Steve Kerr is NOT a political activist, his words are telling:

SAN FRANCISCO -- A day after being called out by name by President Donald Trump...  After watching the video, Trump said Kerr looked like "a scared little boy," something Kerr made reference to in his initial remarks Thursday. ... My hope is that we can find a mature unifier from either party to sit in that chair and try to restore some dignity to the Oval Office again, and I think it will happen."

I have deliberately selectively quoted a few words from the ESPN story.   When do you think Kerr said these words?   The writing is dated October 10, 2019!   See:

I haven't found a public comment of Kerr on the current Iran invasion, but:

Steve Kerr, the outspoken coach of the NBA's Golden State Warriors, said Saturday he feared the killing of Iranian general Qasem Soleimani could embroil the United States in an "unwinnable, unnecessary" war.

Kerr, a longtime critic of US President Donald Trump, posted multiple times on Twitter Friday in the wake of the US strike in Baghdad that killed Soleimani.

https://www.france24.com/en/20200105-warriors-coach-kerr-wary-of-unwinnable-war-as-us-iran-tensions-mount  This quote was one of multiple noted quotes on the internet today from proximate to May 1, 2020, when Coach Kerr was quoted.

I have sought sources of Iran's government invading other countries prior to 2026 and find Zero invasions dating back prior to the Islamic Republic, which came to power in 1979.    Iran has had direct ties with forces in the Middle East such as I've noted in paragraph two of this writing.

The United States has had a significant history of direct attacks upon other countries!   Cuba in 1898, Nicaragua in the 1980's, as well as our strong  "proxy" efforts such as in Chile in 1973 all significantly pre-date our involvement in The Middle East.

It is Easily Understandable for me why DT - is focusing upon Iran today!   Jeffrey Epstein alone is a major factor.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Zr_k7B45as

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cj4zjk2l8xjo

The above three quotes - reference ties of Epstein with the Middle East.    Besides The Middle East, the ties of DT, quite likely Bill Clinton, and numerous other wealthy, advantaged men is a HUGE affront to our decency.   Basically, unless one is a very wealthy, white male, one really doesn't "matter".   Most particularly, there is what I would not with exaggeration call as "War on Women and Girls".    Joe Biden was timid in his speaking out in support of women, most particularly following The Dobbs Decision of June 24, 2022!   He seemed scared that he might hurt his political future and/or he really didn't/doesn't support abortion rights (re: his being Roman Catholic).   DT and The Republicans are clearly pushing a minority view of women's rights upon The United States.

The current invasion of Iran was a "good" if not great political decision of DT's for multiple reasons.   The June 22, 2025 missile attacks blunted the energy building up following the June 14,  2025 "No Kings Marches".

February 28, 2026 DT faced multiple issues that were closing in upon him including how The Epstein files were both exposing wealthy men including himself and how he was delaying and redacting the issues raised by the victims, the state of the economy, the recent seeming failures in “controlling” Minneapolis and Minnesota with Ice and more.

Democratic Party politicians, the media and the general public have immersed themselves in Iran and its invasion, dividing in perspectives, which nearly always Demonize the leadership of Iran past and present.   Democratic Party politicians return again and again to the need for Congressional Approval, rather than the inanity of the invasion itself.

The Iranian regime is a brutal and murderous dictatorship; Ayatollah Khamenei slaughtered his own people, sponsored terrorism for decades that claimed American lives, and vowed to wipe Israel off the map. I strongly condemned the Iranian regime’s murder and imprisonment of thousands of civilian protestors by formally cosponsoring a Senate resolution (S.Res.606) condemning the Government of Iran for its suppression of the right of Iranians to peacefully assemble. I also cosponsored the Iran Human Rights, Internet Freedom, and Accountability Act of 2026 (S.3380), a bipartisan bill designed to increase pressure on Iran by expanding internet access amid regime blackouts and repression, enforcing sanctions on human rights violators including their enablers, and promoting human rights documentation and accountability. I will always stand in support of Iranians yearning to be from the authoritarian yoke of this regime. But Iran’s malign behavior does not give President Trump the authority to unilaterally initiate a war of choice.

The above March 16, 2026 quote from Senator Adam Schiff’s response to my request for action against the Iran Invasion is typical of the perspective of many, if not most Democratic Party Congresspeople.   Israel’s threats to Iran have been much, much more lethal/polemical and similar, but Israel is still seen as “the good guys”.    Iran’s government, while being horrific to its own people, has at worst a “mixed record” related to “sponsored terrorism”.   It has been the only Middle Eastern Country to stand up for the Palestinian People, as well as to oppose much of the oppressive leadership in the Middle Eastern countries in general.

Israel has had nuclear weapons for decades.   The biggest danger to the survival of this planet comes from the Israeli leadership seeing “no way out”, and starting a nuclear attack (such as on Iran), unless DT’s leadership is more in danger of doing that (particularly currently).

The lessons of North Korea and Libya are telling, related to why it is important to have nuclear bombs.   North Korea was a “bitter enemy” with its horrific leadership, until it showed that it (now) had nuclear weaponry.  Now, we have little interest in it, and don’t refer to it as a threat.

How the miserable death of Moammar Gadhafi factors into Kim Jong Un’s nuclear ambitions

  • North Korean leader Kim’s refusal to disarm may be due to memories of the downfall of Libyan dictator Gadhafi
  • Gadhafi surrendered his nuclear weapons program in response to Western demands in 2003
  • He was killed by NATO-backed rebel forces in the Libyan Civil War 8 years later

https://www.cnbc.com/2017/07/30/how-the-miserable-death-of-moammar-gadhafi-factors-into-kim-jong-uns-nuclear-ambitions.html

The primary reason why Iran will become a nuclear state is directly related to what is stated above!   Trump invaded Iran, during negotiations towards a settlement.   The Iranian leadership is done trusting The U.S.!

It should be clear that The United States leadership wants to have Iran lead by politicians who will be most “cooperative” – i.e. Compliant with our priorities.   An independent voice that opposes the U.S. is Not acceptable to our leadership.

Israel wants a very, very different leadership.   Israel strongly opposed the Assad dictatorship in Syria, prior to it being overthrown.   Syria now seemingly is a “failed state” undergoing transition in directions that aren’t fully clear.   Israel can and does act with impunity in basically invading Syria when it wishes, doing what it wants to do.

Israel wants a Weak Iranian leadership that it can similarly manipulate.   The last thing it wants is a state compliant to U.S. Government Leadership.   Israel prefers to manipulate American leadership directly.

May be an image of text that says 'According to a Guardian exclusive, on February 26. 2026, Iran offered to give away ALL of its enriched uranium during peace talks in Geneva. Oman's foreign minister, who brokered the talks, called it breakthrough "never achieved before." senior British adviser was in the room and left believing deal was within reach. British officials said they saw no evidence Iran was building bomb. trump's own Steve Witkoff later admitted Iran had "talked about turning over material" during those same talks. And more talks were scheduled, but thirty-six hours later, the U.S. dropped bombs. trump didn't want deal. trump wanted war.'

Anti-Semitism is frequently brought up related to Iran!   I suggest that interested readers look more deeply at this issue.   One helpful writing is at:

https://thebattleground.eu/2026/03/19/blaming-the-jews/?fbclid=IwY2xjawQqE5xleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEeZ2ZjQ2xVYwqE-VfUJqt-HPsLDxDzqO65z7s-2OIMxmJ9wDReenjzBBdvzLI_aem_9NEFTa5nLclAELDpR0rDPg

Chris Hedges – example - https://substack.com/@chrishedges – has helpful insights, whether one agrees wholly or partially.   Common Dreams (periodical) – example - https://www.commondreams.org/news/trump-mixed-signals-iran - is a great publication on multiple issues.

DT has an issue that has gotten far bigger than he most probably anticipated with his invasion along with Israel’s in Iran.    He is clearly failing in his seeking to bring other major powers into his efforts.   The idea that he will attack more deeply or send troops to Iran seems deeply flawed!

I hope that sooner, rather than later, our president will declare that Iran has lost and that Israel and The United States has won and that it is time to focus on the “latest threat” – such as Cuba.   Until/unless he does this, the killing will accelerate and the devastation will continue.  Gasoline and Diesel prices will continue their recent  significant rises.   Our economy will continue to move in terrible directions, as Artificial Intelligence won’t fund us much longer.

The Fears – continue to (understandably) grow!   The hatred isn’t helping!
