I was fortunate to see Teddy Swims play at The United Center Friday , September 25th, 2026, his 34th birthday!  A capacity crowd enjoyed over 90 minutes of music, with not that much chatter.    Personally I was on my feet at least 60-70 minutes, enjoying the opportunity to dance and really feel one of my favorite performers.


For the devoted Teddy Swims fan, he is more than a musician we enjoy!   Swaying to his music LIVE is far, far more inspirational than listening to a bunch of his songs at home!

My words can't explain the feelings that arise in the moments of being there!   For me, having a nosebleed seat which cost me $53 had a value in my body that was and is priceless!   I wished that I could have shared the experience with one I care deeply about - later - my/our 5th Tedd Show - will be that moment!

Teddy appears comfortable in his relatively new stardom.    At first, he seemed to struggle with it around a year ago.   He has the charm, the wonder of a few years ago - speaking unscripted much of the time he speaks, repeating himself, awkward in moments,  and simply beautiful, talented, honest and more.

Swaying to his music I could speak and experience a neighboring individual, while watching so many fellow audience members in a seemingly very different space, also enjoying the show.

My first Teddy Swims show was a few years ago in a much, much smaller casino venue in the outer Los Angeles Area.   We'd flown from Northern California to see my partner's (then) new favorite performer.

Teddy Swims came on stage wearing quite tall, plain socks, and a matching shorts, shirt set that some might wear at the beach, no shoes and a reality I'd never seen a performer be in.   He talked openly of some of his life struggles, between songs and really exposed himself deeply.

Teddy's music has always been amazing (for me)!  It is free form poetry.   His voice is distinct - no one else could sing his songs in a comparable wayl

I want to clearly note that during a reasonable part of the show, Teddy Swims, while performing, was signing autographs of fans who were throwing a variety of things from the expensive seat area for him to sign.

I should note - for example - that he got the covering thin wrap off a music album, so his signature would adhere to the album cover.   None of this changed his singing which continued, unabated.

My second Teddy Swims show was at a wonderful venue, The Greek Theatre above The University of California, Berkeley.   Teddy was better known, but still not famous.   As with all Teddy Swims shows, it was amazing.   There was still an "intimacy" as Teddy's career success grew.

My third Teddy show I call “2 1/2”. We bought last minute tickets, outdoors in Chicago. Just into the 2nd song, there was a downpour, lighting, and the show was postponed. It took us over an hour to get to where we managed to get a Lyft back to our hotel. It was disappointment.

There was NO Disappointment last Friday evening! My (now) ex-partner wasn’t with me. Being alone, I first felt the DEEP DEEP SPIRIT of Teddy! Only one whose both attended a Teddy Swims show, and feels his Magic Deeply will possibly understand faintly what I mean!

At my next realistic opportunity, I’ll be there, “drinking the koolaid” (I don’t any longer drink, nor otherwise get external “enhancements” — beyond feeling the impacts of such an experience!

Teddy Swims, for me, is a “religion of the moment”! He is both a distraction from challenging realities around me and an embodiment of a spirit of tolerance, possibility and hope!

Daniel Marx - My Brother

  July 23, 1953 - April 22, 2024 My brother died last evening officially at 7:57 pm in the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey.  I was the only one in the room to see his journey move forward.    I wasn't the most "with it" of kids!   When my mother and brother came home from the hospital I evidently said:  "Who's that woman?" to my father.     In 1956, when Daniel was three we moved from Ann Arbor, Michigan to West Lafayette, Indiana.   We lived the first year in a university owned house near the intersection of Happy Hollow and North River Roads in WL.   A year later our parents bought the house at 122 North Street, across the street from Morton School where we grew up.   The upstairs apartment's living room was our bedroom, and the bedroom was our parent's bedroom.
