Donald Trump + The Republican Party + The Democratic Party + MS-Now/CNN + the 2026 Elections - re: 2027

Watching MS NOW - early Sunday, September 20, 2026, 44 days before the November 3rd, general elections, I find things very clear in some significant ways, totally in conflict with the perspectives of MS NOW.   I also admit that I "can't predict the future".

Let's start with Donald Trump.   Trump is a narcissistic, sadistic, aging, white male who wields a lot of power!

MS NOW and CNN and The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal and other mainstream media on one level accurately portray "reality" as we move towards the 2026 general election.

Common Dreams is a non-mainstream media source I rely upon.  I will list a number of "headlines" from - https://www.commondreams.org/news - I've just pulled up:

MS NOW is talking now about "freedom of the press" and Donald Trump''s most recent attempt to limit MS NOW, CNN and Politico's access to The White House.

MS NOW and Common Dreams are part of two distinct worlds which overlap in part, while remaining distinct.

MS NOW - has its "experts", its paid staff, commentators, and guests who rarely challenge, explaining (to me at least) a generally fictitious world which never really existed.

The world has "actors", indivduals who play their parts in an often described simplicity, which quantifies, and otherwise labels a world that I see, and do not accept.

Common Dreams speaks of systems of oppression, how Fascism is tearing (or trying to tear) us apart.

Donald Trump's rants are real.  They are scary!   Scarier still for me are the often seemingly invisible players who wield much power building a future that goes well beyond whether The Kennedy Center will be torn down.

Trump has succeeded in destroying vestiges of a lot of history, however the destruction is most importantly not in the physical chaos (and order) that is pushing forward in front of us.

We have an election, moving forward beginning already in some states.

MS Now with their commentators and more talk quite clearly, convincingly for many of how The Republicans are facing increasing likelihood of losing power.

I am totally baffled (in a sense) by such words!   

Has The Supreme Court - enforced the laws of this land, that are sacred to so many?   I've witnessed Supreme Court decisions, and dumping of things back on lower courts, which at times limits things.  Trump lacks the legal authority to ban and greatly limit the mailing in of electoral ballots.

Trump, his cabinet members, and the Congressional Republicans repeatedly stretch and avoid following The Law in so many ways.

Mike Johnson and Susan Collins - drink from the "same cup".   When the chips  threaten a loss of power, Collins is there - the Congressional veteran, perhaps in some ways almost the most important woman in our modern way.

Republicans will likely continue to stick with Trump, as long as he helps them.   When they abandon him we will perhaps have "more openness" in one sense, while things may be chaotic in other ways.

So where are the Democrats?    So, so many of them are scared of substantive change.   They are stuck in a world, that largely no longer exist.

I see the upcoming Election very differently than MS Now protrays things.  

I see a pathways of the following:

1. Will there be a MAJOR EVENT - (becoming less likely day-by day) - which will lead to martial law, or similar - with No November elections nationally.   The odds are saying this won't happen, however it still is possible,

2. Will there be direct - preventing of major numbers of individuals voting through use of the U.S. Military and Ice Agents and perhaps others?  I have no idea, however this is certainly possible

3. Once election day concludes, what happens next.   Listening to MS NOW - we have clear pathways as the Democratic Party (likely) takes over control of one or both houses of Congress.   I disagree 100%.   I have seen no signs that the Republicans will "respect the system" and give up control.

Individual Republican politicians face plenty of dire consequences if the Democratic Party gets control of one of the houses - wielding real power in an important way.

While individual Republican politicians might not end up jailed, as they ought to be, they are likely to face increasingly dire situations in many ways.

4. I find it hard to believe that unless the election results reflect continuing Republican Party control, that we will have the seating of new politicians in Congress for 2027 and beyond.   We can't count on The Supreme Court and lower courts "protecting us".   We can't count on Republicans and Trump respecting court decisions, if they turn against the Republicans.   We can't count on the Democratic Party Leadership to do more than file lawsuits, and speak on about "fairness" and similar.

5. Where are the "No Kings Marches" (at all)?   Where is there any sign at Congress will check and stop the War in Iran, as well as the genocide in Greater Palestine (Israel, Lebanon, Syria and perhaps Iran as well)?   Where is the incredibly messed up spending of money being slowed or halted.

I hear little or no talk on MS NOW - reflecting my concerns at a deep level.   I see no major resistance!   MS NOW,   CNN, and The New York Times are NOT - exposing the unraveling of Democracy (not that we've ever been one.   Amy Goodman, Angela Davis,  and even Zoren Mamdani, Rashida Tlaib, Peter Beinart, Christopher Hedges, Rashid Khalidi and many more people I admire greatly remain visible, only on the sidelines, heard by relatively few people.

I can not predict the future!  I do guess, however, that things won't unfold in simple ways, unless Republican leadership remains electorally intact winning nationally in six weeks.

I don't see active resistance - resisting our increasingly fascist state.

I hope I'm wrong!
